Huge strawberry harvests this past week! We were picking all 6 of our 420 foot rows of strawberries on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and they were yielding record results. We still have a very solid looking week ahead of more strawberry picking to go but that may be it. We should still have plenty extra for sale this week but if you would like a flat of 8, please let me know to reserve it.
Strawberries loved that hot and dry weather we had once they started to ripen but the farm sure did welcome the rain we received last night. Things were mighty dry around here and there is a very hot forecast for the second half of this week. We have a nice irrigation system in place, but it still requires a lot of time spent moving hoses, sprinklers, and drip lines around. That time can now be refocused on catching up on some other projects at the farm like weeding these onions!

We managed to get started right before the strawberries started to ripen up but the project got put on hold and we should now be able to find some time to resume! Hopefully they all look like this below soon!

Of course while maybe we will not have to spend so much time picking strawberries, we have now started to pick the snow peas. They will be a new item in the CSA shares this week along with Broccoli, Romaine Lettuce and Cauliflower! The cauliflower heads are going to be a little on the smaller side. They don’t really care much for the heat and I’d rather harvest them a little small then chance it through this upcoming heat wave and lose them.
The heads of Romaine look really nice! We grew a red and a green variety and it will be your choice which to try.

Everything does look happier this morning with the fresh rain drops still on them!
