We’re in quite a dry spell currently, but the veggies keep on coming in.  We’re doing all we can to keep up with watering and irrigating. So much for that feeling of refreshment from vacation, we’re feeling a little bit like this squash plant right now… all droopy and worn out! LOL

The CSA share though is going to be packed full of goodness!

We have some beautiful tomatoes ready to pick!

And the melons have seemingly ripened up overnight.  We have two types in the share, Sensation Melons and Cantaloupe.  The sensation melons are described as having a complex taste with haunting hints of hazelnut, amaretto and cinnamon.  Personally, I have found them to be inconsistent to taste.  Some can be bland, but when you get a good one it is the best tasting melon hands down.  It’s a taste that keeps me growing them year after year.  Hope you all get a good one!  The cantaloupe is no slouch either.  After trialing many, many varieties we found our “True Love” cantaloupe. It’s the sweetest!

The CSA list:

Heirloom Slicing Tomatoes

Cherry Tomatoes

New Potatoes

Peppers (Hot and Sweet)

Tomatillos

Scallions

Melons ( Cantaloupe and Sensation)

Choice Table with :

Carrots, Beans, Eggplant, Zucchini, Cucumbers & Okra

The lack of rain has actually been a boost for the melons, tomatoes and flowers.  We’ve been drip irrigating them at the base of the plant and therefore the foliage and flowers stay dry and less disease has crept in.  Despite that…. we would love some rain!!

Check out this new variety of Sunflower we found this year!
