This incredibly nice weather has given us a jump start on the tilling and planting.  We started tilling up our cover crop of rye.  We have a couple beds of peas and kale planted.  We also have the cold frame planted with 8 types of leaf lettuce.  We also thinned out the straw which was on top of the garlic, shallot, and asparagus beds.  Without any snow pack the straw was still in remarkable condition and we just carted it back into the barn to be used as bedding for the cows which will be arriving in a month or so when the grass starts growing again.  With this weather it won’t be long!
