About 8 years ago we decided to add on a Pick Your Own herb and flower area to our farm and CSA shares.  It started out as 2 raised beds of herbs maybe about 2 ft wide and 10 ft long.  We had 1 row of flowers with daisies.   Every year we expanded this a little more, sometimes with the help of suggestions from CSA members.  This year, we have over 50 varieties of herbs and flowers and it is one of the things that many enjoy most about our farm.  We’re excited to give this area it’s own special day on Wednesday with the help of our event coordinator Brandy.  She will be giving a short class on bouquet arrangement every half hour from 6:30 through 8:00.  Admission is $5 per person (non-CSA members) and free for CSA members (sign up still required). Sign-ups close 6/29 at 7PM, so grab your spot today.  We are already sold out of the 6:30 session!

Leave with a beautiful bouquet and get to know our flowers a little better. We encourage you to bring scissors and a mason jar, cup, or vase to arrange your bouquet in and we will provide you with water. We hope to see you there!

On the vegetable side of the farm, we are happy to see a few new crops reach fruition.  This week we will have cucumbers, carrots and new potatoes in the CSA shares.  The entire list will be:

Scallions

Garlic Scapes

Lettuce

Zucchini

Cucumber

Carrots

New Potatoes – great roasting and/or boiled ;  not for mashing

and a choice table including kale, swiss chard, turnips, broccoli, and more.

The sweet corn is really starting to shape up and we have even started picking the first of our cherry tomatoes.  It won’t be long for those two to join in on the fun!  And just as we wrapped up harvesting our crop of cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower, we started a new round in the greenhouse which we are aiming for an early Fall harvest.

This will be the 6th week of CSA shares and it marks 25% of the way through the season.  We hope you are enjoying everything!
