We stuck with what has become a tradition now and harvested some of the honey off the tops of the hives this 4th of July weekend.  The harvest was not a record breaker, but it was very solid.  The honey has a nice light amber color to it,  which is a little darker then what we have had for Spring honey in the past.  It tastes delectable and Pappy has bottled up a small jar for each CSA member to try!

As for the vegetables this week…

I know we will have:

Cucumbers

Zucchini

Scallions

New Potatoes

Lettuce

&

Carrots

Now comes the tough part….  We have quite the plethora of crops that are almost ready.  They may or may not be in the share this week.  It is very tough for me to tell right now as crazy as that may seem!  The crops that might be included are:

Cherry Tomatoes

Sweet Corn

Eggplant &

our second try this year at Sugar Snap Peas is also starting to come in now as well.

So I can’t say to count on them being there for your share this week, but I have a good feeling that this heat and soil moisture is just the right combination to push them along real nice!

I also need to mention that for you okra lovers out there that the okra has started to trickle in now as well.  Expect to see that showing up on the choice table for weeks to come.

Happy 4th!!!
